Following the conclusion of the Washington Open, the Canadian Open, an ATP Masters 1000 event, will get underway in Toronto.

The competition is the first of two Masters series in the build-up to the US Open, followed by the Cincinnati Open.

At this year’s tournament, two home hopes will bid farewell to the tennis world, after Eugenie Bouchard and Vasek Pospisil announced their retirement from the sport.

Several big names have pulled out of the Canadian Open, with Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic withdrawing, as well as Carlos Alcaraz and Jack Draper.

Multiple confirmed no-shows have meant something will happen in Toronto for just the fifth time in history.
