What role Jayden Danns is expected to play at Sunderland after 'exciting' Liverpool loan move

Liverpool fans have become used to seeing other supporters have all the fun on transfer deadline day.

The Reds do not often have any exciting business to confirm once the final day of the market rolls around.

Instead, it is usually a case of crossing the T’s and dotting the I’s on some lower profile transfers at Anfield.

That looks to be the case again in 2025, with no major additions – or minor ones at that – expected on Monday.

Despite the lack of incoming activity, though, there could still be some movement out of the Liverpool exit door.

Jayden Danns looks set to join Sunderland on-loan until the end of the season. And looking ahead to that move, journalist David Lynch has declared his excitement.

Jayden Danns set for first-team Sunderland role

Danns has had an impact in the Liverpool squad since returning to fitness towards the end of 2024.

However, with so many options ahead of him in the pecking order, a loan has felt like being the smartest move.

Flying high in fourth place in the Championship – and with some exciting young players at their disposal – Sunderland look like a good fit for Danns.

And according to Lynch, the 19-year-old is set to be a rotational option with current first choice striker Wilson Isidor.

“Really, really good move,” raved the reporter, while speaking to Anfield Index. “We knew a Championship loan was likely if he was to go out.

“I was speaking to someone at Sunderland and they’ve got Isidor who plays up front, but there’s a chance to be cover for him and also [the manager] occasionally would like to go front two as well, so for him to be part of that.”

“So, I think there will be a lot of minutes for him there at a club that will be good at developing young players in a team that plays good, attacking football and an opportunity to get used to being pushed around a little bit and bullied by Championship defenders, that’s going to be really, really good for him.

“So, I’m really excited about this move,” Lynch adds. “Really excited to see how he gets on and really hope he flourishes.”

Any other business expected from Liverpool?

As well as Danns, there seems to be a chance for several more fringe players to exit at Liverpool before Monday’s deadline.

As Rousing The Kop exclusively revealed last week, West Ham are considering a move for Tyler Morton and the midfielder is one to watch right up until the end of the window.

So too is Kaide Gordon, who is reportedly close to joining Portsmouth.

Meanwhile, James McConnell will be going nowhere, with the 20-year-old expected to stay around the Liverpool first-team until the end of the season.
