The Indian cricket team beat Pakistan by 88 runs in its second Women's ODI World Cup 2025 match at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Sunday.After being put in to bat, India posted 247/10 thanks to a quickfire 20-ball 35 from Richa Ghosh lower down the order. Harleen Deol’s 46 off 65 was the top score for India. Diana Baig (4/69) was the top wicket-taker for the Pakistan cricket team.In reply, Pakistan struggled to keep the momentum and were bundled out for 159 in 43 overs. Kranti Goud, with a spell of 3/20 in 10 overs, was the pick of the bowlers for India.This was the Indian women’s cricket team’s 12th win over its arch-rivals in as many ODI matches.Sidra Amin played a standout knock for Pakistan, scoring 81 off 106 balls, while Natalia Pervaiz contributed 33 off 46. Other batters struggled to make an impact, with most dismissed cheaply, including Pakistani captain Fatima Sana, who made two off 15.While Kranti Goud starred with a three-fer, Deepti Sharma (3/45 in nine overs) and Sneh Rana (2/38 in eight overs) were also among the wickets.The win placed India on top of the Women's ODI World Cup 2025 table with four points from two matches. India had beaten Sri Lanka in their opening match on Tuesday.Earlier in the day, Pakistan’s pacers Diana Baig and Fatima Sana bowled with precision in overcast conditions, keeping the Indian batters in check.India’s openers, Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal, were back in the pavilion before the 15-over mark as the score read 67/2.Captain Harmanpreet Kaur also fell cheaply, leaving India struggling at 106/3 in the 25th over. Harleen Deol’s gritty 46 off 65 balls helped India cross the 150-run mark in the 33rd over, but she too fell soon after.India’s innings wavered at 201/6 in the 45th over as Pakistan struck regularly. Yet Richa’s explosive cameo, featuring three fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 175, propelled India to 247.India will play South Africa in their next match in Visakhapatnam on Thursday.
