Russell Martin sneaks out side door as Rangers fans launch furious sitdown protest outside Falkirk Stadium

Russell Martin was forced to sneak out the Falkirk Stadium by a side door - but the besieged Rangers boss believes he’s not yet destined for the Ibrox exit.

The under-pressure Ibrox gaffer found himself in the firing line again as his lumbering Light Blues spilled points for the sixth time in seven games so far after being held 1-1 by John McGlynn’s brave Bairns.

While his players were forced to run a gauntlet of hate as around 30 furious fans gathered to the rear of the Gers’ team bus, Martin was seen making his way across the pitch to leave by another door, where a police escort took him to a waiting car.

Meanwhile, riot police with battens drawn were forced to step in and clear a path for the reversing coach as the seething Union Bears even attempted a sit-down protest.

Now focus will switch to the Gers board and whether they will continue to back Martin.

The stalemate leaves a team that has spent £40million this summer languishing in eighth place, nine points behind Celtic and ELEVEN adrift of rampant Premiership leaders Hearts heading into the international break.

But Martin recognises his Rangers slump can only go on for so long.

He said: “Yeah, I think it's the same everywhere. Just this club is intensified and the scrutiny is much higher, the noise is much louder.

“So yeah, every draw we've had has felt like a defeat because of the stature of this club and what it means and what we have to try and fight for.

“So I can't answer your question really, you'd have to ask the people above me.

“I feel that the players and the staff are really, really behind me.

“I felt really supported by everyone else above me as well, and I can't dictate whether that changes or not. So that's out of control for me, I have to just try and focus on winning football matches.”
