Jurgen Klinsmann's son has earned an international call-up for the United States and could be in line to make his senior debut.Goalkeeper Jonathan, 28, has looked to forge his own career out of the shadow of his legendary father and holds both US and German citizenship, having been born in Munich and grown up in Newport Beach, California.Klinsmann is therefore eligible for both countries at senior level. He appears to have pledged his allegiance to the US, however, after being selected in Mauricio Pochettino's 23-man squad for two upcoming friendlies.Pochettino's side will face South Korea in Harrison, New Jersey, on September 6 before playing Japan in Columbus, Ohio, four days later.Klinsmann has already represented the US at the 2017 U20 World Cup but should he play in either of the friendlies, it would be his debut in the top category.🇺🇸 🇩🇪 Jonathan Klinsmann, son of Germany great Jürgen Klinsmann and a dual German-American citizen, is closing in on his first appearance for the USMNT.Coach Mauricio Pochettino has included the goalkeeper in his squad for September friendlies against South Korea and Japan.… pic.twitter.com/UPk12Atr4u — DW Sports (@dw_sports) August 27, 2025Jurgen Klinsmann's son, Jonathan, has been called up by the United States senior sideThe goalkeeper was named in Mauricio Pochettino's 23-man squad for upcoming friendliesThe legendary Klinsmann famously won the World Cup with Germany in 1990In 2018, he was called up by the US for matches against England and Italy - but did not make an appearance.
