Statement regarding Western United FC

Football Victoria (FV) is aware of today’s decision to place Western United Football Club into liquidation.

In line with FV’s Constitution, competition regulations and Club Membership requirements, Western United is no longer eligible to participate in FV leagues in 2025.

As a priority, FV has evaluated the impact to our competitions and can confirm the below position in relation to VPLM and Advanced Junior Boys:

FC Melbourne Srbija will now be elevated to the play-off position resulting in the below fixture changes: Melbourne City FC will now host FC Melbourne Srbija Brunswick City SC will now host North Sunshine Eagles FC

Melbourne Victory FC Under 17s will now progress directly into the Under 17 JBNPL1 Grand Final

FV continues to review the implications on Promotion and Relegation in Senior men’s leagues and the Advanced Junior Boys structure. A further update will be provided in due course.

We recognise the deep impact today’s decision will have across the Western United community and we urge our football family to show support for the players, fans, coaches, and staff who are most affected.
