Newcastle United are finally set to bring in a new striker – and potentially pave the way for Alexander Isak to join Liverpool.Alexander Isak wants to join Liverpool this summer, but Newcastle United won’t let him go until they sign a top striker themselves. This market has been a painful one for Newcastle, with Eddie Howe receiving blow after blow in his hunt for a new striker.Benjamin Sesko joined Manchester United while snubbing Newcastle, and Chelsea beat the Magpies to Joao Pedro.Newcastle’s interest in Yoane Wissa has proven difficult as well, with Brentford standing firm on the forward’s future, despite his desire to leave.A new striker is finally on the way to St James’ Park, with Newcastle striking a deal to sign Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart.Photo by Marvin Ibo Guengoer – GES Sportfoto/Getty ImagesJulian Nagelsmann will love Nick Woltemade move to Newcastle UnitedNewcastle will pay around £65million for Woltemade, with the striker now heading to Tyneside to complete his move. This is a huge deal for Newcastle and represents the scale of Woltemade’s brilliant rise over the last year.Woltemade joined Stuttgart from Werder Bremen last summer, having shown potential on loan at SV Elversberg in the third tier of German football. The 6ft 6in striker has emerged as a star for Stuttgart, racking up 17 goals in 33 games last season.Woltemade also dazzled at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship this summer, sparking interest from Bayern Munich.Newcastle are now set to win the race, and Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann is surely a happy man.Nagelsmann fired a warning to Woltemade earlier on Thursday, telling NTV that he could risk missing out on the World Cup if he joined Bayern Munich.Nagelsmann told Woltemade that he could join Bayern if he really wanted, but sitting behind Harry Kane for the 2025-26 season would leave him in danger of missing the World Cup.“If he goes to Bayern Munich and plays, it’s good for me too. If he goes there and doesn’t play, he has to come back and play,” said Nagelsmann.“I just want all my players to play, and everything else, where, doesn’t really matter to me.“That’s why I told him: ‘You’re welcome to move to Bayern Munich if that’s your wish’. But it’s important that you also make it clear to them that with 25 percent playing time, the World Cup will be tight,” he added.Woltemade will instead join Newcastle and is in line to play regular first-team football in the Premier League as Isak prepares to leave.Nick Woltemade suggested as ‘similar’ to Alexander IsakWoltemade now knows that one strong season in the Premier League could see him lead the line for Germany at the World Cup next summer. The giant striker has enjoyed a meteoric rise, but will now be charged with the task of scoring goals for Newcastle in place of Isak.Intriguingly, FBRef have used data to compile a list of players ‘similar’ to Woltemade – and Isak ranks fifth.Gaetan Laborde, Marcus Thuram and Kai Havertz are the top three ‘most similar’ players to Woltemade, with Hugo Ekitike – a former Newcastle target – fourth.Randal Kolo Muani is another player linked to the Magpies, and he comes in at number seven. Most of those strikers are big and physical forwards with real ability on the ball, rather than just being a target man.Woltemade faces another step up in quality with his move to Newcastle, but his athletic qualities suggest Premier League defenders are in for a real battle with him in the near future.
