In Match 39 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, reigning champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is taking on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), a repeat of their last game where LSG emerged victorious.

Before the CSK vs. LSG rematch, KL Rahul and MS Dhoni chatted at Chepauk during practice. LSG's social media shared a lovely video highlighting the memories shared between Dhoni and Rahul, showcasing Rahul's admiration for Dhoni, especially as both are wicketkeeper-batter.

Back in 2014-15, during the Boxing Day Test at the MCG against Australia, it was MS Dhoni who handed KL Rahul his Test cap. Leading the Indian side then, Dhoni played a significant role in backing the young players.

Although Rahul's contributions were limited to scores of 3 and 1 in both innings, India managed to make a draw. And in the very next Test match of the series, the LSG captain stamped his class with a fine century at SCG.

Since then, KL Rahul and MS Dhoni have shared numerous matches together. When Dhoni retired from international cricket, KL Rahul emerged as one of the contenders to fill his shoes behind the stumps, alongside Rishabh Pant.

KL Rahul tried to follow in Dhoni's footsteps and contribute to Indian cricket in a similar way. In the tribute video from LSG's social media, they highlighted how Dhoni inspired their captain, KL Rahul.
