MS Dhoni was in action for the Chennai Super Kings on Sunday (May 5) in the IPL 2024 match against the Preity Zinta-owned Punjab Kings . In match No. 53 of the ongoing season of the IPL, which was played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, Dhoni came out to bat at No. 9 for CSK but got out for a golden duck. He failed to understand Harshal Patel’s yorker, and it rattled his stumps.

After Harshal got rid of Dhoni on the fifth ball of 19th over of CSK’s innings, the fans went in shock but when the cameraman shifted its attention to Preity Zinta , then she was seen celebrating Dhoni’s wicket and the video of her excited reaction after former India and CSK skipper’s wicket is now going viral on the internet.

It was Dhoni’s first duck in IPL 2024, but despite the forgetful show by the 42-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, CSK managed to post a total of 167 runs on the board for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs, which in the end proved to be enough.

Ravindra Jadeja top-scored for CSK against the Punjab Kings by making 43 runs from 26 balls, and skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad made a contribution of 31 runs. Harshal and Rahul Chahar picked up three wickets each for the Punjab Kings.

In reply to the 168-run target, PBKS could only manage to score 139 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. After top-scoring with the bat, Jadeja impressed with his bowling as well and dismissed three batters for 20 runs in four overs. Apart from him, uncapped Indian pacers Tushar Deshpande and Simarjeet Singh got rid of two batters each.

By getting the better of PBKS by 28 runs in Dharamsala on Sunday, CSK has now moved to No. 3 position in the IPL 2024 points table and is in pole position to secure one of the four playoff spots.
