Zimbabwe batter Brendan Taylor made his comeback to ODI cricket after being named in the playing XI for his side’s series opener against Sri Lanka on Friday.

The 39-year-old’s last 50-over game for Zimbabwe came against Ireland in 2021.

Taylor, who made his return to the Test side earlier this month against New Zealand, was banned in 2022 after admitting to having received $15,000 from an Indian businessman in 2019.

Against the Kiwis, Taylor scored 44 in the first innings and seven in the second as Zimbabwe crashed to an innings defeat.

Ahead of the Sri Lanka game, Taylor had scored 6684 runs in ODIs at an average of 35.55, including 11 centuries and a high-score of 145.
