Filipino tennis sensation Alexandra Eala recently made waves off the court, gracing the cover of Vogue Philippines in a striking fashion spread. Her appearance in Vogue comes at a pivotal moment in her career. Once a promising junior at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Spain, she has since evolved into one of the most exciting prospects in women’s tennis.

Her breakthrough came with a spirited run to her maiden WTA final at the 2025 Eastbourne Open, where she pushed Australia’s Maya Joint to three competitive sets. While she faced early exits at Wimbledon and the Canadian Open following her Eastbourne run, Eala’s performance has clearly caught the attention for her growing influence as a cultural icon in the Philippines.

The Vogue Philippines feature showcased Eala in a variety of bold and athleisure-inspired outfits that perfectly captured her athletic elegance. Among the standout looks were a pleated black-and-white track suit, an exclusive Nike By You tee paired with woven denim trousers, and a statement-making pair of Nike Air Superfly sneakers.

The styling choices reflected Eala’s dual identity as both elite athlete and fashion-forward young woman, bridging the gap between court performance and cultural influence.

In 2022, Eala etched her name into the history books by becoming the first Filipino to win a junior Grand Slam singles title at the US Open. That breakthrough set the stage for even bigger achievements. After breaking new ground for Philippine tennis by becoming the first Filipino woman to enter the WTA top 100 rankings in March 2025, she quickly climbed to a career-best world No. 56 in June.

‘So Proud of Myself and What I’ve Accomplished’: Eala on Her Journey So Far

In her Vogue Philippines interview, Eala highlighted that her journey is a collective effort, not just personal success. “I’m so proud of myself and what I’ve accomplished. I’m [also] proud and grateful [to] the team and all the effort that they’ve put in. I’m just happy that, you know, they see results and that I can share this happiness with them also.”

Beyond the pride in her achievements, Eala revealed what truly fuels her drive. “I would say that I’m hungry,” she said. “It’s made me feel hungry to do even more and to work even harder.”

She added that her motivation is matched by the wisdom that comes from time on the pro circuit. The harsh realities of professional tennis have taught her valuable lessons about resilience and perspective.

“Tennis is such a beautiful sport because it really keeps you grounded. You lose, you really learn to lose, because you lose almost every week,” she added. “And that’s what I’ve learned: there’s always going to be someone better than you. And what I try to do is just be the best version of myself.”
