Predicted Manchester United line-up to face West Ham

Manchester United’s minds are firmly on winning the Europa League, but the Red Devils are in action on Sunday in the Premier League against West Ham.

The 2024/25 season is at its latter stages, with two weeks until Manchester United travel to Bilbao to face Tottenham in the Europa League final. That makes up for the fact Ruben Amorim’s side only have pride to play for in the Premier League following a turbulent campaign.

Following Thursday’s 4-1 win over Athletic Club at Old Trafford, United are back at the Theatre of Dreams to face 17th-place West Ham, who are safe from relegation with three league games left to play.

After a busy night of European football, Amorim is expected to rotate his team against West Ham because, with nothing to play for domestically, he will be mindful of risking key players who played midweek.

It will be an opportunity for United’s head coach to give players minutes like Mason Mount, after recently returning from injury, but as a starting figure in Amorim’s line-up.

How Manchester United could line-up vs West Ham

There is no denying this is a game that means very little for United, considering Amorim’s side is destined to finish in the bottom half of the table. The same could be said for Graham Potter’s West Ham since they have avoided the drop.

Here is how we predict United will line-up against the Hammers on Sunday.

Goalkeeper

Amorim doesn’t need to change his goalkeeper for the remaining matches. He has made up his mind about Altay Bayindir, who could be on his way in the summer, and Andre Onana needs games to build some confidence ahead of the final.

Defence

After appearing in United’s 4-3 defeat to Brentford last weekend, Tyler Fredricson could be in line to make his third start for the Red Devils following an impressive display in a recent loss to Wolves. Amorim rates the youngster and could partner him with Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw. Amorim will have a headache at wing-back unless he looks to United’s academy for fresh talent like Harry Amass on the left joined by Jaydan Kamason on the right. Patrick Dorgu and Noussair Mazraoui don’t need to burn out in the build-up to the biggest game of the season.

Midfield

In midfield, Casemiro is likely to be rested, with Manuel Ugarte joined by Bruno Fernandes in the middle of the pitch. The two number 10 positions will be taken by Mount and Amad Diallo.

Striker

Rasmus Hojlund will be trying to build on his goal against Athletic Club by adding to his season tally against West Ham. The Denmark international doesn’t need to play 90 minutes, but that gives Amorim a chance to play Chido Obi in the latter stages.
