Liverpool ‘Make Contact’ for ‘Phenomenal’ Trent Replacement Instead of Frimpong

Liverpool could look to make a move for Monaco right-back Vanderson as their long-term Trent Alexander-Arnold replacement - with reports stating that the Reds have made contact with the French club over a potential move for the emerging star to come into their ranks.

The Reds are set to lose their academy star after 20 years of service, with Alexander-Arnold announcing earlier in the week that he was set to depart from Anfield to pursue a new challenge - and that has left club chiefs scrambling. But they could look to Ligue 1 to see a new arrival in Vanderson.

Report: Liverpool 'Enquire' About Vanderson as Trent Replacement

The Reds need to sign a right-back to fill the void of their England star

The report by Goal Brazil states that Liverpool are looking for a new right-back to replace Real Madrid-bound Alexander-Arnold - and have made an enquiry about the Brazilian as a result.

The full-back has been 'contacted' by Liverpool in recent days, with Anfield chiefs consulting his intermediaries in search of more information about Vanderson, who has seen his stock skyrocket in Europe this season. Monaco are asking for a fee of around €30million (£25million) to let the 23-year-old leave this summer, and with Alexander-Arnold set to depart in around six weeks, Vanderson could be needed as an immediate replacement.

Liverpool are exploring the market, but Vanderson is a possibility to join Arne Slot's squad in the coming weeks, and having joined Monaco three years ago, he could be ready for a fresh challenge. 123 outings for the club over four seasons have seen the ex-Gremio man cement his place as one of the best players in Ligue 1, seeing him labelled as 'phenomenal'.

Vanderson has made 39 appearances for Monaco this season, scoring twice in what has been a relatively successful campaign for the Monegasque outfit - though they still need two wins from their last two games to confirm a place in next season's Champions League without having to go through the qualifiers.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Vanderson has five caps for Brazil.

And if they fail to do so, that could see Liverpool add competition for Conor Bradley in the depth of their defence as their Dutch boss aims to replicate his debut campaign title win by retaining the Premier League trophy next time out.
