Ruben Amorim told that Man Utd have a really 'obvious' problem that he still hasn't fixed

Before Manchester United were well beaten by Brentford, Peter Crouch questioned why Ruben Amorim was not solving one problem, and the issue surfaced again in this loss.

The annual trip to the G-Tech Community Stadium is one Manchester United fans have learned to dread, with the venue not seeing a Red Devils victory in approaching four years.

However, the confidence held after United beat Chelsea last weekend saw hope that this could be set for change, but within 20 minutes, the nightmare was repeating.

United were well beaten 3-1 by Brentford on Saturday, and the result saw common problems re-arise for Ruben Amorim, with the system continuing to give no proof that it will ever work.

Amorim was left demanding more from his team after the game; however, his decisions and tactics are a large part of the problem, so he can’t have too many complaints.

However, one issue was so clear, making it baffling to Peter Crouch, that it hasn’t yet been solved.

Peter Crouch says Manchester United need a new goalkeeper

It was another day to forget for United under Amorim, and before a ball had even been kicked, Crouch had been speaking on TNT Sports about the goalkeeping position.

Crouch explained that United don’t have a number one, which is spot on, as Altay Bayindir has previously shown himself not good enough to be a number two.

“It feels like the situation with the goalkeeper just hasn’t been addressed. I think it feels like they have three number twos. It’s an issue that was obvious.

“Onana wasn’t going to be the number one, and I don’t think the situation has been addressed. They’ve brought the young lad in who isn’t starting. He’s only had one real season in football, and they’re starting Bayindir.

“I don’t know why, when you had Donnarumma and Martinez available in the summer why the situation wasn’t resolved.”

This verdict on United’s goalkeeping situation is spot on, as if the plan wasn’t to play Senne Lammens immediately, why not sign a player who was favoured over Bayindir?

Altay Bayindir must be replaced by Senne Lammens against Sunderland

Crouch’s comments on the goalkeeping position were well timed, and in the game, he was proven right as Bayindir made another blunder for the second goal Brentford scored.

Bayindir palmed a cross right to Igor Thiago, who then scored his second of the game, as the Turkish goalkeeper’s weak hand couldn’t keep the ball from crossing the line.

This performance was the latest in a long list of poor displays by Bayindir, who hasn’t kept a clean sheet this season, which surely must have Amorim desperate to give Lammens a shot.

The Belgian is, at the very least, better than Bayindir in the basics of football, which is what United need right now with such poor goalkeeping on show by the current number one.
