Andy Walker is the latest former Celtic figure to question the club’s transfer window. It was an anti-climactic window overall for Brendan Rodgers, with Celtic failing to get the players required.Adam Idah’s departure to Swansea City left the Hoops looking short-changed up front but after securing the short-term signing of Kelechi Iheanacho along with the deadline day addition of Sebastian Tounekti, the squad is now set in stone until January.Celtic fans were fuming with the way the window panned out, and for Walker, it has clearly shown where the club’s priorities are.Photo by Michael Regan – UEFA/UEFA via Getty ImagesAndy Walker accuses Celtic of only wanting to better RangersThe Bhoys came close to winning a domestic Treble last season and put on an excellent showing in the Champions League.Fast forward to this season and Rodgers’ side are already out of Europe’s premier competition, playing in the Europa League, and looked nowhere near their best.A lack of recruits has played a huge part in that and Walker thinks that they only want to better Rangers rather than take themselves to the next level.MORE CELTIC STORIESSpeaking on the Go Radio Football Show, he said: “I’m sure I heard Brendan Rodgers talk about Adam Idah and how he wouldn’t be out the door unless they got a replacement and they haven’t. And just in general, you hear every manager talking about a transfer window. We want to come out of it stronger than when we went into it.“Celtic are weaker and it may well still be enough to secure the title, but that is just all you get from the club. I think I think the only ambition is to be one step ahead of Rangers, I think it’s been evident for some time.”Celtic have untapped potentialFor all the noise around the club, Celtic can still be a club on the up as they go in search of five league titles in a row. This is a side well-supported around the world and that can help propel the Hoops to the next level – especially on the continental stage.A good run in the Europa League can help realise those ambitions before regrouping in the summer and making a genuine go of the Champions League.
