Lia Walti has joined Juventus on a permanent transfer, bringing to an end her seven-year association with Arsenal.Lia arrived in north London from German side Turbine Potsdam in July 2018, making a total of 183 appearances during her time with us.Widely regarded as one of the best midfielders to have played for Arsenal, the Swiss midfielder departs having helped us win the Barclays Women’s Super League, two League Cups and, of course, the UEFA Women’s Champions League.Known for her elegant playing style and ability with both feet, Lia was named in the PFA Team of the Year at the end of her first season at the club, becoming a firm favourite with our supporters.Lia made her Switzerland debut in 2011 and has since won 131 caps. She has captained her country at the last three major tournaments, including the Euros in her homeland this summer, and has twice won the Swiss Footballer of the Year Award, in 2021 and 2023.Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley said: “Lia has been an important part of our recent history at Arsenal. One of the most talented midfielders of her generation, Lia has brought joy to our supporters and worn our jersey with class.
