Liverpool's failed move for Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi on transfer deadline day means that they now won't be able to land him until the January transfer window at the earliest — but in somewhat good news for the Reds, reports have stated that they will be able to land him for around £10million less than their agreed fee on Monday.Guehi's stock has risen rapidly over the past year or so, helping England to the EURO 2024 final before winning Palace's first-ever major trophy, and that saw Liverpool boss Arne Slot look to land him on a cut-price deal with his contract set to run out in the summer of 2026.Report: Liverpool Learn Marc Guehi 'Asking Price' for January Transfer WindowThe report by Football Insider states that Liverpool will be able to sign Guehi in the January transfer window for a fee of around £25million - £10million less than their agreed price on Monday's Deadline Day, which works out as just about under 30 percent of a discount.Liverpool and Palace agreed upon a £35million on Deadline Day morning, with the England international undergoing a medical on Merseyside prior to his move to Anfield, and there was even a leaked video of Guehi's farewell message to the Eagles. However, with Palace's loan move for Brighton defender Igor Julio having fallen through after he opted for a move to West Ham United instead, Palace were unable to find a replacement for their skipper, and blocked a deal going through at the eleventh-hour. Now, the Chelsea academy graduate will be available for around £10million less than Palace's agreed asking price when the transfer window reopens in January.GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Marc Guehi has 23 caps for England, though he's yet to score for the Three Lions.Liverpool will reignite their interest in the FA Cup-winning captain in the winter window, looking to finally complete his move to Anfield, although they will have to rely on Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Geovanni Leoni to marshall their centre-back ranks for the next four months. And crucially, Guehi having six months left on his deal means that he could instead agree deals with other clubs from abroad, who could offer him a pre-contract for the start of next season, should an acceptable offer arrive for his services.Liverpool could even wait until the end of the season themselves, landing Guehi on a free - which would be detrimental to Palace's financial outlook, but it would at least see Guehi see out another campaign at Selhurst Park, which may be crucial to their chances of winning the Europa Conference League.Sign up to The GIVEMESPORT Report to get exclusive daily updates from Fabrizio Romano, Ben Jacobs, Dean Jones and Tom Bogert sent straight to your inbox.
