Manchester United have already given game away over next major transfer move

Manchester United transfer latest with Bryan Mbeumo bid lodged and Mathues Cunha deal agreed

Manchester United have made a swift start to their summer transfer business.

Ruben Amorim's side have agreed a £62.5million deal with Wolves for Mathues Cunha having met his release clause, while the Reds are stepping up interest in Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo having tabled an initial £45million offer with £10million in add-ons. The Cameroon international has indicated he is keen on a move to Old Trafford.

Those two deals would represent a superb start to the window for Amorim as he seeks to reshape the squad in his image ahead of his first full season in charge. Should Mbeumo follow Cunha to Manchester then United will have to sell before they buy again.

Alejandro Garnacho is free to depart while Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony are priority sales after the trio returned from loan spells away from the club. Raising funds will be crucial to supplementing the squad with further new signings and it's clear where United will look next.

Their struggles up front are well documented with Rasmus Hojlund struggling for large swathes of last season to lead the attack and Joshua Zirkee showing more promise in a withdrawn role.

It means a new centre forward is on the hit list and United showed their hand when moving for Ipswich Town frontman Liam Delap. He had a £30million release clause in his contract but spurned United's advances and instead opted to join Premier League rivals Chelsea.

United's interest in the 22-year-old displayed their intent to add more firepower to their attack and while Cunha and potentially Mbuemo will offer an extra goal threat, the Reds are set to continue their search for a striker.

They have been linked with Sporting Lisbon sensation Viktor Gyokeres although he is likely to want Champions League football despite his existing working relationship with Amorim from their time together in Portugal. Victor Osimhen is another potential Old Trafford arrival but wages could represent a stumbling block in any potential deal with Napoli.

United could turn their attention to alternatives with former Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic among those linked, but what is clear is that their next priority is to bolster their forward line.
