Usman Khawaja 200: Australian opening batter Usman Khawaja made history in the ongoing Australia vs Sri Lanka 1st Test at Galle as he became the first Aussie batter to slam a double century in a Test match in Sri Lanka. The 38-year-old left-hander reached the milestone during the morning session on Day 2 of the Test.Khawaja reached his double century with a single on the first ball of the 111th over in Australia's first innings when Prabath Jayasuriya bowled a tossed-up delivery around off. Stepping down the track, Khawaja tapped the ball to Jayasuriya’s right. Expecting the mid-off fielder to cut the ball off, Jayasuriya misjudged the situation, but the ball rolled harmlessly to mid-off, allowing Khawaja to seize the moment and complete a single. He brought up his 200th run off 290 deliveries, including 16 fours and one six. The Australian left-handed batter now has 16 Test centuries to his name.ALSO ON ABP Live | Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina & Others Will Play Legend 90 League; Check Teams, Venue & More Details🚨 USMAN KHAWAJA DOUBLE CENTURY 🚨It's the first of his Test career and the first ever by an Australian in Sri Lanka! pic.twitter.com/6rd10XfKfe — 7Cricket (@7Cricket) January 30, 2025Usman Khawaja now holds the record for the highest individual score by an Australian in Test cricket in Sri Lanka with an unbeaten 200*.
