What they were saying about Notre Dame beating Arkansas 56-13

Some of our ntertaining and informative tweets that were posted during Arkansas' game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

After back-to-back close losses the last two weeks, Arkansas took it on the chin in a big way on Saturday afternoon when No. 22 Notre Dame pounded the Razorbacks 56-13, including a 42-13 halftime deficit in front of 75,111 at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville (Ark.).

The Hogs (2-3, 0-1 SEC) had a drop on the first play of the game and never found rhythm offensively, while the defense turned in another pitiful effort in allowing 641 yards of offense to the Fighting Irish (2-2). Jeremiyah Love scored four touchdowns, including two on the ground and two receptions for scores, while Jadarian Price added two more touchdowns.

Notre Dame more than doubled Arkansas' first down total, 32-15, and held the Razorbacks to 1-2 in the red zone while the Irish went a perfect 5 for 5.

The Hogs also lost wide receiver Jalen Brown to a broken leg in the contest.

Here's a look back at some of the most entertaining tweets that were posted during Saturday's blowout:

Arkansas had a chance to jump out to an early 7-0 lead, but Raylen Sharpe came up short of hauling in a third-down reception and the Hogs had to settle for a field goal. The Irish benefitted from a personal foul on offsetting penalties that allowed for a third-down replay, and two plays later had taken the lead for good.

Razorback fans showed up and did their part once again on Saturday -- Notre Dame was very well represented, too -- and over 75,000 got a close look at a future high draft pick in Love. The St. Louis product and former four-star who was offered by the Hogs in 2022 went for four touchdowns in the first half.

Even the Razorbacks' lone touchdown was a struggle that required 6-8, 344-pound offensive tackle Shaq McRoy, who stubbornly turned in a third and goal touchdown plunge that pulled Arkansas within 14-10 in the first quarter.

There was a feeling that once Arkansas gave up a touchdown on Notre Dame's opening drive that it would be another long afternoon for the Razorback defense. That proved to be the case as Travis Williams' crew continued to look lost and lackadaisical throughout the game.

The line on this game (Notre Dame -4) had fans on both sides confused all week. Razorback fans have come to accept two consistent outcomes against marquee opponents -- either a heartbreaking loss or a blowout loss. As they've done so often at home under Sam Pittman, Arkansas opted for the latter once again in front of an impressive home crowd.

Arkansas couldn't stop the run or the pass, and Razorback fans seem to have trouble picking which one to be more frustrated at in this one. The most bothersome part of the final was again a going-through-the-motions effort from the players, which can only be attributed to the players and coaches on the field.

Saturday's game seemed to move fairly quickly, lasting a typical 3 hours and 20 minutes, but the second half couldn't have felt longer for the Hogs. While the Razorbacks limited Notre Dame to just a pair of touchdowns in the final 30 minutes, there was definitely a hopeless feeling that set in when Arkansas couldn't finish drives against a defense that had been shaky in its first three contests.

Now sitting at 2-3 with a bye week to rest, it's no secret the coming hours and days have high potential for change for Arkansas football. After taking a much-needed week off, the Razorbacks travel to Knoxville before returning to Fayetteville for three straight home games against Texas A&M, Auburn, and Mississippi State.
