Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to provide a clear “yes or no” response regarding India’s participation in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, scheduled to be held in Pakistan. The request comes amid ongoing complications related to India’s government approval process, with the BCCI yet to confirm the team’s attendance.Over the past few days, PCB Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer has held extensive talks with ICC officials in Dubai.PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also took part in discussions aimed at solidifying the tournament schedule, expected to be unveiled in Pakistan between November 10 and 12.Set to commence on February 19, 2025, this Champions Trophy marks Pakistan’s first time hosting an ICC event in over a decade. However, India’s participation remains uncertain due to the government’s hesitation to issue a formal clearance for the tour. Despite the tradition of Indian authorities withholding official confirmation, PCB has insisted on a written response from the BCCI.Sources suggest that if India declines to participate, the ICC has prepared a contingency plan, including a revised budget for the event. While details of the alternative plan have not been disclosed, the ICC is set to proceed with the schedule, with India’s matches tentatively planned for Lahore.PCB’s schedule proposes that Pakistan will open the tournament against New Zealand in Karachi, followed by India’s expected match against Bangladesh in Lahore on February 20.Anticipation surrounds the scheduled March 1 match between Pakistan and India in Lahore.Construction on the venues in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi is progressing, with the PCB aiming for completion by December 30. With 13 billion rupees allocated for venue development, an ICC delegation is expected to inspect the facilities soon.
