That was a crazy half of football, and only good defence on their own line has saved the Wallabies from trailing by more than 12 points.

It’s felt more like the Sydney sevens at times. James Slipper even saved the day with a running mark to prevent a try.

The home team have been their own worst enemies, with a massive number of turnovers via cold errors, ill-judged offloads or low-percentage attacking plays.

He’s a calm guy, but Joe Schmidt is going to be going off his head in the sheds at half-time to just build phases and spend time in the Pumas’ half and stop trying the miracle plays.

Three minutes before the break, Hunter Paisami is penalised for being off his feet at a ruck.

It comes after Suaalii gets a bit isolated but the issue is a bad pass from Australia’s halfback … Taniela Tupou on this occasion.

Australia get a scrum and push into Argentina’s half until… Paisami throws a wild offload that doesn’t go to a teammate. Hold onto the ball, brother.

Wallabies are down on the scoreboard at the break but will feel like they’re still in the contest. Pumas have been clinical for the most part and have had more ball and territory.

Big boys on both teams will need a breather. Tough slog in terrific rugby conditions.

Oh dear. Argentina pick off the lineout and Harry Wilson isn’t happy. Claiming an obstruction … but no pay from the ref.

Seriously high tempo rugby. Loads of offloads and plenty of ball in play time. Wallabies look a little knackered as James Slipper bolts back to take a mark in Australia’s 22. Has that ever happened?

Halfback Nic White is down in back play but pushes through.

Also… in case you missed Suaalii’s try earlier.

Argentina march their way down the field and get into a great field position. Blokes in the ruck and numbers out wide.

Pumas No.10 Santiago Carreras drops it cold 10 metres out from Australia’s line. Remarkable with five points begging to be scored.

“They have blown a certain try,” says Horan in commentary.

50-22 from Tane Edmed! Sydney crowd go wild with Australia pinned in their own end. Needed that.
