What Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler thinks about Chelsea after third consecutive win against Blues

Brighton & Hove Albion made it three wins in a row against Chelsea on Saturday under Fabian Hurzeler.

After going 1-0 down in the first half, Brighton managed to turn things around and beat Enzo Maresca‘s side 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Their previous two meetings also ended in victory for Brighton, so Chelsea will be sick of the Seagulls.

Former Blues defender Jason Cundy slammed Chelsea after the game, but Hurzeler had some positive things to say about the Club World Cup winners.

Fabian Hurzeler still thinks Chelsea are a ‘great’ team

Following Trevoh Chalobah’s red card, which comes after Robert Sanchez’s at Old Trafford last weekend, Brighton’s win at Stamford Bridge became a pretty straightforward one.

However, Hurzeler still described it as a “tough game” and claimed that Chelsea are a “great” side.

Speaking to the BBC after the full-time whistle, Hurzeler said: “Every game is very tough against them. They are a great football team and great individual players. Always an opportunity to prove who we are and a big challenge for us.”

Chelsea have to quickly forget about their latest disappointment in the Premier League, as they have a Champions League game on Tuesday.

Chelsea held onto their 1-0 lead until the 77th minute when former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck equalised.

According to Hurzeler, the key to equalising and eventually grabbing the win was opening gaps on the pitch.

“Sometimes when you are one man up it gets more and more difficult because the other team only tries to defend,” the German explained. “We stayed patient, we stayed calm, we played from left to right, we opened the gaps and we had some good moments.”

Hurzeler takes his side to Molineux next to face Wolverhampton Wanderers. As for Chelsea, their upcoming Premier League fixture is against champions Liverpool.

Arne Slot’s team also lost this weekend, falling to a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, so Chelsea have to be prepared for a strong reaction.
