England defender Jess Carter: We want EURO 2025 success to make young girls believe in their dreams

England are once again champions of Europe, shaving successfully defended their prestigious title at UEFA Women’s EURO 2025.

It was yet another performance that embodied their fighting spirit, coming from behind to beat Spain on penalties.

Sarina Wiegman’s side changed the status of women’s football across the United Kingdom when they delivered this accolade three years ago, and Jess Carter is hoping that their latest success will ensure that progress continues.

“I hope it just continues [to grow]; I hope that access to the game becomes better, and I hope that everyone has equal opportunity to play,” the English defender exclusively told Olympics.com at full-time.

“I hope there are more young girls that are inspired to just go and try, you know, give it a go. I [want us to] inspire people to be who they want to be and be brave in that decision, regardless of where they’re from, the colour of their skin, or what sport they want to play.

“[We want them] to believe that they can follow any of their dreams.”
