Nottingham Forest predicted XI as Ange Postecoglou starts Igor Jesus for Europa League clash vs Midtjylland

0
European football returns to the City Ground for the first time in almost 30 years tonight as Nottingham Forest take on Midtjylland.

Forest gained a very credible 2-2 draw against Real Betis in gameweek one, but a win is badly needed tonight.

Ange Postecoglou got an unwanted record after a 1-0 reverse at the hands of Sunderland on Saturday, and he’s without a win in the five matches he’s overseen.

Darren Bent isn’t convinced by Postecoglou, and a defeat tonight could lead to pundits making an even bigger mockery of the Reds.

Changes are anticipated for tonight’s game against Midtjylland, and we’ve looked at a predicted eleven that Postecoglou could pick.

The Forest rearguard

Forest do have some bittersweet news in this regard going into tonight’s game.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is ruled out with a groin problem and won’t play against Newcastle either, but Murillo is back and should partner Nikola Milenkovic at centre-back.

Nicolo Savona will likely play at right-back, with Neco Williams switching across to the left.

MORE FOREST STORIES

Matz Sels will start in goal.

The Forest engine room

Elliot Anderson will almost certainly start the game as Forest’s mainstay in midfield.

With Douglas Luiz out injured, Ibrahim Sangare will likely come into the fray for this one, with Nicolas Dominguez unlikely to play for a second successive game after returning from injury.

Leading the Forest line

Igor Jesus will almost certainly come in for Chris Wood after the Brazilian’s two-goal haul against Betis last week.

Behind him, Morgan Gibbs-White should return after being benched for Saturday’s game.

On the flanks, there could be another chance for Dilane Bakwa to prove himself after some inconsistent performances since arriving from Strasbourg.

On the opposite side, we think Callum Hudson-Odoi will come into the team.

Others in contention for Forest vs Midtjylland

John Victor will provide competition in goal.

Defensively, Forest are short of options, so Zach Abbott could take his place on the bench alongside Morato.

Ryan Yates and Dominguez should provide the midfield with some backup, with both players pushing to start.
