The action in China is heating up as WTA Ningbo reaches the quarterfinal stage, for real this time. Professional tennis matches are all over Asia as the WTA Osaka Open is running at the same time as WTA Ningbo, with both tournaments entering the quarterfinals. Whether you’re betting on the matches in Japan or in China, Last Word on Tennis has you covered. We looked at Osaka earlier; now it’s time for Ningbo. Here are my picks for the quarterfinal matches, the real ones. With that said, please leave your thoughts in the comments.WTA Ningbo QuarterfinalsTomljanovic– Rybakina: Time 10:00H2H: 0-3Ajla Tomljanovic versus Elena Rybakina is our featured match. Rybakina owns the series 3-0, but it’s worth noting that their 2023 US Open second-round match had a walkover. Of the matches they actually played, one of them went three sets, and that was the quarterfinal match at Wimbledon in 2022. Rybakina enters the match with one title in 2025 and an impressive 32-13 record on a hardcourt. Tomljanovic is having a rough year at 25-23 overall and 12-11 on a hardcourt. There’s also an eight-year difference between the two of them in age.Best Bet to MakeRybakina is, once again, a monster favorite. She’s such a huge favorite that, even if you picked her to win 2:0 and she won, she still wouldn’t bring you more than a 149% return. In other words, she would still fall just short of our 1.5 minimum. That said, you can get a pretty good value taking the over/under on 19.5 games. The over is going for 1.9, and the under sits at 1.85, and I think this is the smartest way to approach this match. Whether you’re going over or under, this is probably the best bet with the highest return and the lowest risk. That being said, Over 19.5 games is a value bet for sure.Value bet/the best odds: Over 19.5 games @1.9 @10BetZhu – Shnaider: Time 13:00H2H: 0-2Lin Shu vs Diana Shnaider is our other match. While the difference between these two in the World rankings is literally 200 points, it’s actually looking like it will be the better of the two matches in this article. When I say better, I mean more competitive, as in better for the viewer. Zhu is an avid hardcourt player. She has a career record of 382-231 on hardcourt, and she’s 19-12 in ’25. Shnaider is 70-46 in her career on a hardcourt, and she’s 14-14 this year. While both players had to win two games to get here, Zhu did it as a 5-1, and 4-1 underdog. Shnaider was the favorite in one of her matches, and she was a 3-1.3 underdog in the other.Best Bet to MakeIf you’re looking for an upset in the quarterfinals, I think this is the match for you. As I’ve already stated, Zhu has already met the challenge of being a significant underdog both times. This time around, she’s only a 3-1.5 underdog! That’s actually an improvement. She’s also 7-3 in her last ten matches, and only one of them could be considered a bad loss. The other two were to Maya Joint and Mirra Andreeva. I am picking Shnaider to “win” the match, but I think there’s value on several bets for Zhu. Give me over 12.5 games for 1.98, and I’m a happy man. That being said, Over 12.5 games is a value bet for sure.Value bet/the best odds: Over 12.5 games @1.98 @bwin
