The Indian cricket team celebrated their Asia Cup 2025 victory without receiving the trophy after defeating Pakistan by five wickets at Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. Team India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, declined to accept the trophy and medals from Mohsin Naqvi, who serves as both the Asian Cricket Council president and Pakistan Cricket Board chief, due to his position as an interim minister in the Pakistan government. The decision came amid strained diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan, which deteriorated following a terrorist attack on Indian tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, and India's subsequent Operation Sindoor response. The trophy ceremony was delayed by an hour, with the Indian team, coaches, and support staff remaining on the ground while Mohsin Naqvi and other dignitaries waited on stage. India had requested to receive the trophy from Emirates Board vice chairman Khalid Al Zarooni, but Naqvi insisted on presenting the medals himself. Reacting to the incident, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia added, "There is an ICC conference in November in Dubai. In the next conference, we are going to launch a very serious and very strong protest against the act of the ACC chairperson."
