Crows stars Mark Ricciuto, Mark Bickley and Brett James will officially be awarded their retrospective Showdown Medals at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.

Showdown Medallists for the first six duals between crosstown rivals Adelaide and Port Adelaide were named earlier this year, ahead of Showdown 57.

James was recognised for his performance in Showdown Two, which included 25 disposals, and four tackles.

Ricciuto (34 disposals, six clearances and four rebound-50s), and Bickley (30 possessions, nine clearances, one goal) were awarded the accolade for Showdowns Four and Five, respectively.

Following the announcement and ahead of Showdown 58, the Crows trio will receive their medals before Adelaide faces Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.

Bickley said he was looking forward to the night and sharing it with his former teammates, as well as the Crows fans.

“I’m really chuffed, you don’t miss something you don’t have, so I hadn’t thought too much about it, but when it arrives, it’s a really nice thing to have,” Bickley told AFC Media.

“I am really pleased they decided to complete the full picture, there were those six games that didn't have Showdown Medallists, so this makes sense, and I was really fortunate to be one to receive it.

“I’m more excited by the fact Adelaide is in a really good spot, and fans are looking forward to going to the footy and supporting a team playing really well.

“It will be good to go along, enjoy the atmosphere and it’s going to be great to be involved in a game day scenario for a team performing.”

Three-time Showdown Medallist and former Crows ruckman Sam Jacobs will award James, Ricciuto and Bickley their medals before the first bounce near Adelaide’s run-out.

Adelaide and Port Adelaide won three of these games each in this period, establishing an exciting new rivalry in South Australian football.

Port Adelaide’s Darren Mead was awarded the medal for the inaugural Showdown, Adam Kingsley claimed Showdown Three’s medal, while former Power midfielder Josh Francou claimed best-a-field for Showdown Six.

In line with the current process, the judging panel included representatives who were involved in the media for the first six Showdowns in the late 1990s.

They were Graham Cornes, Kym Dillon, Bruce Abernethy, Chris Dittmar, David Wildy, David Burtenshaw and Michelangelo Rucci.

The Crows face the Power in Showdown 58 at Adelaide Oval on Saturday at 7.40pm.
