Liverpool do not appear to be done in the summer transfer window - even after their confirmed £79million arrival of Hugo Ekitike. The Frenchman has joined Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz as new signings, with further additions targeted at both ends of the pitch.

The departure of Jarell Quansah has seen depth at centre-back decrease, with Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi one option looked at. Jorrel Hato of Ajax has also been linked but the 19-year-old appears set on a move to Chelsea after direct talks were opened earlier this week.

Considering the Dutch giants appear to be demanding up to £60million, it might be better for Arne Slot's squad to look elsewhere as they have already spent close to £300million. However, that will not be an issue as Liverpool are still capable of signing Newcastle United's Alexander Isak.

Hugo Ekitike has told Alexander Isak what he wants to hear after completing Liverpool transfer READ MORE:

The Sweden international has made it clear he wants to exit St James' Park with that given as the reason he missed the friendly defeat to Celtic. He is also dealing with a minor thigh issue with that provided as the explanation for his absence from the Magpies' pre-season tour of Asia.

It is certainly interesting timing from Isak considering both Liverpool and Arsenal have just committed big fees to other attackers. Before their decision to pursue Ekitike over the 25-year-old, a figure of £120million was mooted.

Newcastle are presumably unlikely to accept any potential deal at that sum and, yet, CIES Football Observatory's Estimated transfer values state he is worth between £82.2million (€94m) and £96.2million (€110m). It is certainly an interesting valuation considering his contract does not expire until 2028.

If that was the funds required, Liverpool could absolutely afford him but, even if it is close to double that, a deal could still be funded by three marquee sales.

Darwin Nunez is mooted to be one of those despite the fact Napoli, who had been strongly linked to the Uruguay international, have brought in Lorenzo Lucca as their striker to replace outgoing Victor Osimhen.

Following on from a superb campaign at the U21s European Championships, Harvey Elliot may also move on as he searches for more regular senior minutes. Finally, Luis Diaz is of firm interest to Bayern Munich with the Bundesliga giants submitting a new offer in excess of £58.5million (€67.5m), as per Sky Sports Germany.
