Florida State Completes Final Fall Regular Season Tournaments

ATHENS, Ga. – The Florida State men's tennis team concluded its final regular season fall tournaments at the ITA Sectional Championships in Athens and the Battle of the Beach in Destin on Sunday.

At the ITA Sectional Championships, the singles main draw round of 32 began on Thursday with Erik Schiessl, Azariah Rusher, and No. 8 Corey Craig competing in singles. Rusher went on to win in straight sets over a ranked opponent, No. 109 Stefano D'Agostino.

In singles at the Battle of the Beach on Friday, the Seminoles swept their matches against Tulane, with Justin Lyons defeating Asaf Friedler 6-4, 6-2. Jan Sebesta overcame in a three-set battle against Andres Delgadillo 6-7, 6-3, 6-1. Gabrielle Brancetalli won his match over Nibset Lance 7-5, 7-3. Oren Ezerzer concluded singles action for Florida State, conquering Steven Rice 6-4, 6-2.

Florida State continued its momentum in doubles play, as Lyons and Sebesta defeated Juan Accossatto and Harold Van Raemdonck of South Florida 8-5. Brancetalli and Ezerzer followed up with an 8-3 win over Adam Nizar Bouyacoub and Deren Yigin to wrap up the weekend for the Seminoles.

FSU will conclude its fall competition at the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship from November 18-23 in Orlando, Florida. Luis Felipe Miguel and Schiessl will represent the Seminoles in their first career NCAA postseason appearance. Miguel and Schiessl qualified for the national stage at the ITA Regional Championships earlier this season in Gainesville.
