Essendon is assessing the severity of fresh injury concerns to three key players in what looms as further blows to the club’s severely injury-plagued season.

Herald Sun chief football reporter and Super Saturday LIVE panellist Jay Clark reported on Saturday that all of Darcy Parish, Kyle Langford and Mason Redman had emerged from a light Bombers training session with soft tissue concerns.

The club later confirmed to foxfooty.com.au that Parish felt “calf tightness” towards end of Saturday’s training session and had been sent for “precautionary scans”.

Meanwhile, Langford and Redman had been building towards a return to play before suffering setbacks on Saturday, with Langford reporting discomfort in his quad and Redman indicating hamstring discomfort. It’s the same quad that had sidelined Langford for the previous four games.

Meanwhile, Redman had missed the previous three matches with a calf issue, while Parish had played the Bombers’ past three matches after missing the first 11 due to ongoing back and calf issues.

A Bombers spokesperson said the club would know more on all players in the coming days .

“Injury mayhem at Essendon training this morning,” 7News Melbourne reporter Mitch Cleary wrote on X.

Essendon heading into the bye had 13 players on its injury list, including Langford and Redman.

Crucial defenders Jordan Ridley (hamstring) and Zach Reid (hamstring) are due to return soon, but ruck pair Sam Draper (Achilles) and Nick Bryan (ACL), as well as young Tom Edwards (ACL) and Lewis Hayes (ACL) are done for the year, while Ben McKay (foot), Nik Cox (concussion) and Harrison Jones (ankle) remain out indefinitely.

It’s led to the Bombers playing 13 debutants this season: Vigo Visentini, Isaac Kako, Tom Edwards, Saad El-Hawli, Archer Day-Wicks, Lewis Hayes, Angus Clarke, Zak Johnson, Luamon Lual, Lachlan Blakiston and Archer May.
