CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- No. 8 Florida State Seminoles football begins Atlantic Coast Conference play against Virginia at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, Va. on Friday evening at 7 p.m. The game between the Seminoles and the Cavaliers will be shown on ESPN. FSU opened the season with a 31-17 victory over then-No. 8 Alabama at Doak Campbell Stadium. They followed that up with victories at home over East Texas A&M (77-3) and Kent State (66-10).The Cavaliers are 3-1 on the season, including 1-0 in ACC play. They opened the season with a 48-7 victory over Coastal Carolina at home. They then lost at NC State, 35-31, in what was a non-conference game between the two ACC schools. They returned home and defeated William & Mary (55-16) and Stanford (48-20). The victory over Stanford was their league opener.FSU is led by head coach Mike Norvell. He is 36-27 in six seasons at FSU and 74-41 overall in 10 seasons as a head coach. UVA is guided by head coach Tony Elliott, who is 14-24 in four seasons as the head coach in Charlottesville - which marked his first head coaching job. Friday's game marks the first-ever meeting for each coach against the other school as a head coach.The Seminoles lead the all-time series with UVA, 15-4, including a 6-3 mark in Charlottesville.
