Teenager issued caution after allegedly trying to enter AFL match with knife and imitation gun

A teenager has been issued a caution by police after allegedly trying to enter an AFL match with a knife and imitation gun yesterday.

The 15-year-old allegedly approached a gate at Docklands Stadium – now Marvel Stadium – on Bourke Street in Melbourne  at around 4.30pm.

When it became clear he did not have a ticket, nearby officers conducted a search.

Police allege a small knife and an imitation firearm were discovered during the search.

The teenager did not enter the venue, police confirmed.

He was issued a caution from police over the alleged incident.

Yesterday's incident comes after two men allegedly carried loaded guns into the Melbourne Cricket Ground last month.

Officers arrested the two men and allegedly found them both carrying guns.

A 27-year-old Broadmeadows man and a 21-year-old Roxburgh Park man were charged with multiple firearm and bail-related offences.
