Alex Eala made a sweet recollection of her first WTA crown in Mexico as she prepares for her next tournament in the Jingshan Tennis Open in China slated Sept. 22 to 28.The 20-year-old shared some photos of her victory in Guadalajara where she captured her first-ever WTA 125 title which also propelled her to a career-high of No. 56 spot in the world rankings.“Trophy appreciation post before I start the Asian swing!” Eala wrote on her Instagram post Friday, Sept. 19.In the Mexico meet, the 5-foot-9 lefty was nothing but excellent as she outlasted her foreign rivals and capped it off with a come-from-behind 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 final win over Hungary’s Panna Udvardy. She, however, was denied in the Sao Paulo Open with Indonesian Janice Tjen beating the Filipina ace in the quarterfinals. In China, Eala is joined by familiar foes including New Zealand’s Lulu Sun and Dutch Arianne Hartono. The Asian and Southeast Asian Games medalist had fought Sun twice with the latter prevailing in last year’s ITF Slovakia’s doubles and The Wimbledon Championships’ singles events.Hartono, on other hand, was Eala’s recent victim off a 6-2, 6-2 result in Guadalajara.
