How Man Utd could line up in attack vs Tottenham Hotspur with Rasmus Hojlund dropped

Manchester United take on Tottenham Hotspur in Wednesday’s highly anticipated Europa League final at San Mames.

The Red Devils have had a dreadful league campaign. They have picked up just 39 points from 37 games played.

Spurs have not fared better either. The London club are 17th in the league with 38 points.

Despite the dismal league form, one of the clubs will be guaranteed silverware and Champions League football next term.

Ahead of the final showdown, manager Ruben Amorim has a big decision to make upfront with Rasmus Hojlund’s poor run.

The Dane has looked out of sorts for the past few months. He has just three goals to his name since the turn of the year.

Hojlund recently played 90 minutes against Chelsea. He was barely in the game with just 11 passes.

He won two out of 11 duels contested. The 22-year-old lost possession on 13 occasions and was easily outmuscled upfront.

In our view, Amorim could drop the £38 million-rated star against Spurs for the Europa League final.

Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven could easily get the better of Hojlund, based on the striker’s current run of form.

The manager has experimented with his players, but we believe a change must be made to capitalise on potential scoring chances.

Goalscoring opportunities will be at a premium in the final. United can ill afford to squander any clear-cut chances which come by.

With Joshua Zirkzee injured and Chido Obi ineligible to play, Amorim should contemplate starting Bruno Fernandes as a false nine.

This could mean Amad partnering Alejandro Garnacho behind United’s talismanic captain.

Amorim played Kobbie Mainoo as a false striker in February, but his recent lean form means he could start on the bench.
