Georgia football injury report vs. Alabama

Redshirt sophomore Roderick Robinson has not seen the field yet for the Bulldogs. Robinson went through pre-game warm-ups on Saturday with no noticeable limitations.

On Tuesday, Smart explained Robinson was slowed by a hamstring injury during camp and is still not totally 100% from the ankle injury he suffered during Sugar Bowl prep.

"His ankle injury was very significant and he's worked really hard to overcome that. But part of his strength — he's a big guy, a big man like Josh [McCray] — it's a burst," Smart said. "It's him having an explosion in that leg and hamstring. I would say he's more healthy now than he has been since we started camp. He's closer to full speed. But he's still working on that. He's still fighting to contribute and help. He's very intelligent. He knows the offense inside and out. But there's a lot of depth in that room. And as long as people are healthy, it's going to be a healthy competition."

Robinson was limited to two games last season after having foot surgery in the preseason and then injuring his ankle during Sugar Bowl prep. In total, he had 2 receptions for 34 yards and 4 carries for 3 yards.

Georgia center Malachi Toliver was ruled out on Wednesday. He made the trip to Tennessee in Week 3 but worked as the third-string center in warm-ups behind Drew Bobo and Cortez Smith.

Toliver was on the sideline during pre-game but was not dressed out.

Toliver did not play in Georgia's Week 1 game against Marshall, and Smith took on No. 2 center duties in the game. Smith again took second-team snaps during pre-game warm-ups against Austin Peay.

Toliver was slowed by an ankle injury in fall camp. He is still looking to make his UGA debut after not seeing the field during his true freshman year.

Juan Gaston has battled injury early in his true freshman season. He suffered an ankle injury in Georgia's Week 1 win over Marshall, missed the Austin Peay game, and entered the Tennessee game in relief of Glover. Gaston warmed up at second-team right tackle on Saturday.

Gaston's stay in the game was short, and Smart explained why during the bye week.

"[Juan] came in and helped Donnie out there for a period of time. Then he had another ankle that was bothering him and he came out, and they just kept going back and forth," Smart said on Sept. 15.

Gaston has not been listed on the availability report this week, meaning he will be available against the Crimson Tide.

Starting right tackle Earnest Greene will not be available against Alabama. He started the week as doubtful before being downgraded to out on Thursday.

Greene was injured during the first quarter of the Week 1 game against Marshall. Smart later described the injury as "lower-body stiffness." He started against Tennessee two weeks later but left the game before halftime and did not return.

Greene is in the midst of his third season as a starter in Athens but his first at right tackle. I am expecting redshirt sophomore Bo Hughley to start in Greene's place against the Crimson Tide.

One Georgia player who will be out for a while is cornerback Ondre Evans.

Evans tore his ACL late in spring practice. The redshirt freshman has been working his way back from injury, though Smart indicated at SEC Media Days that it may be a while.

Evans was not present among the defensive backs during pre-game warm-ups.

"His [injury] was a little later in spring. He'll be probably come back in the season sometime," Smart said at media days.

Evans did not see the field as a true freshman in 2024. He was part of a signing class that featured talented defensive backs including KJ Bolden, Ellis Robinson IV, and Demello Jones.

The 6-foot, 195-pound Evans committed to Georgia after making a name for himself at Christ Presbyterian Academy, the alma mater of current Georgia receiver London Humphreys. He came to Georgia fresh off a senior season in which he had 21 tackles, 4 pass break-ups, and 1 interception along with 21 receptions for 379 yards and 6 touchdowns.
