Gaoth Dobhair seal Donegal SFC Final spot with win over St Michael's

Gaoth Dobhair are the first confirmed finalists in this year’s Donegal Senior Football Championship.

They booked their return to the Final after a seven-point win over St Michael’s this evening at the O’Donnell Park in Letterkenny.

it was far from plain sailing for most of this contest though, as St Michael’s built a five-point lead by the twenty-fifth minute, a Daniel McLaughlin two-pointer making it 0-8 to 0-3 in favour of the Creeslough side.

A couple of scores followed by a late first-half goal from Domhnaill Mac Ghiolla Bhride helped to bring Gaoth Dobhair back level before half-time and leave the game in the balance at 8 points apiece.

They would continue that positive momentum into the second half, eventually pulling away with a number of fine scores down the stretch to secure the Gaoth Dobhair men their first final berth since 2023.

Tomorrow Naomh Conaill and Four Masters will face off in Letterkenny to decide their Final opponent, with throw-in at the O’Donnell Park at 4pm.
