Manchester United have made an electric start to the transfer window.

Mathues Cunha has agreed a deal with the Reds and will join for £62.5million from Wolves while United are set to wrap up a statement move for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo in the coming days.

Those two additions add guile and goals to what was too often a blunt attack last season and they also reinforce the status of four United forwards who are surplus to requirements.

The Reds have no intention of integrating Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho back into the fold after all three spent time away on loan last term. And Alejandro Garnacho is also available with Ruben Amorim sanctioning an exit for a player who has spoken out once too often.

United would love to rake in around £150million for the quartet to help fund the summer rebuild.

The deals for Cunha and Mbeumo mean Bruno Fernandes will likely retreat to one of the central midfield positions in Amorim's 3-4-2-1 shape.

United have spoken about wanted players who can operate in a number of positions and with Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte all capable of playing in that role, there doesn't seem to be a definitive spot for Casemiro.

The Brazil international was a revelation in the Europa League last term but United don't have European football to look forward to next season and the 33-year-old's influence in the Premier League has waned.

He is also one of the club's biggest earners and is into the final 12 months of his Old Trafford contract. He is not a long term solution at United and if there is an opportunity to recoup a fee this summer then it must be taken.

A case could be made for offloading Rasmus Hojlund amid interest from Inter Milan and the striker's struggles last season but the Reds need to ensure they have a replacement lined up before taking a significant financial hit on a player they spent £72million on two years ago.

Luke Shaw is another who might find it tough to earn a regular starting spot and his recent injury record means he cannot be relied upon week in week out.

His best route into the side is likely as left sided centre back, but United have Lisandro Martinez as first choice in that position while Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro and Mathijis De Ligt are all in place as senior centre halves and Noussair Mazrouri could well be considered a central option if Amad finds a home on the right.

Patrick Dorgu is set to be first choice on the opposite flank and Amorim must decide if Shaw can offer enough across two positions to be retained with talented youngsters Harry Amass, Ayden Heaven and Tyler Fredricson offering support.

One defensive player who is certainly not part of the fold at Old Trafford is Tyrell Malacia who had an underwhelming loan spell at PSV in the second half of last season and is down the pecking order.
