Liverpool plot move to sign '£100m' Brighton star after Mohamed Salah latest

1
Liverpool look to be getting back on track in terms of their recent form, but concerns have lingered about key players including Mohamed Salah.

Arne Slot’s team beat Real Madrid 1-0 last time out, after a 2-0 win against Aston Villa in which Salah found the net, but that has done little to ease their worries.

Salah’s form has been a concern for Liverpool this season as he has so far failed to live up to the lofty expectations he has set with his performances over recent years.

Meanwhile, Liverpool could accept “huge” offers for Salah, with interest from a number of Saudi Pro League clubs remaining strong despite previous snubs.

As a result, the Reds have begun assessing potential alternatives to the winger with multiple big names already on their radar ahead of next summer’s window.

Yankuba Minteh emerges on Liverpool’s list of targets

Brighton star Yankuba Minteh has emerged as a new wide option for Liverpool and his electric pace makes him a serious option for their right-hand side.

Minteh has impressed for Brighton this season, with one goal and three assists in 10 games so far, but there are concerns about his potential price tag.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Brighton could demand as much as £100million for the winger.

“Liverpool are looking at a whole host of options,” he told Football Insider.

“When you’ve got a player like Minteh, who is performing consistently and doing well for a team like Brighton, there’s always going to be interest in him.

“He’s built himself a strong reputation, and that always attracts interest from bigger clubs.

“Liverpool have been keeping an eye on his performances, because he plays in a position where they feel they may need to strengthen.

“The thing is, Brighton are likely to demand £100million or something close to that for him.

“It could be a long-term option, but it’s more short to medium-term if they’re looking for potential replacements for Salah, because he’s 33 now.

“He signed this new contract and everybody was very happy to keep him, and rightly so, but there have been a few concerns about his performances recently.

“I’m sure he will get back on track, but Liverpool will have to be working to find his replacement because at some stage they will need to make a move.”

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 24 October that Salah has a “problem” at Liverpool as he is struggling to match the lofty expectations he has set for himself.

Liverpool are already assessing Salah replacements

Football Insider revealed on 21 October that Liverpool have no plans to sell Salah in 2026 and are hopeful he will get back to his best form this season.

Salah signed a contract extension in April which runs until 2027, and he is currently considered unlikely to leave the club before the expiry of his current deal.

However, Football Insider revealed on 12 September that Liverpool are lining up replacements for Salah with a long-term plan being put in place for the 33-year-old.

Bayern Munich star Michael Olise is a top target for Liverpool, with his recent performances for the German champions placing him high on their list of names.

Meanwhile, Football Insider exclusively revealed Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon and Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo are both on the Reds’ shortlist.
