Mikel Arteta won't like to hear Gary Neville's prediction for Sunderland vs Arsenal

Remarkably, it’s Sunderland versus Arsenal on the weekend, but also first against fourth, and Gary Neville has just made a shock prediction.

Mikel Arteta will be desperately hoping his team can maintain their six-point gap at the top of the Premier League, but face a tough task at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland have been flying in the top flight this season and are sitting on 18 points after 10 matches, having just held Everton to a 1-1 draw.

The Black Cats will now be looking to ruffle more feathers by causing issues for the North London club, and Gary Neville is backing them to do so.

Gary Neville predicts Arsenal to draw with Sunderland

Neville has just predicted a draw between Arsenal and Sunderland on the weekend, which would be a huge result for the hosts.

The former Premier League defender has warned the Gunners that Wearside is a tough place to go right now, and he is backing the draw. Meanwhile, Ian Wright predicted a 2-0 win for the Gunners.

Neville told Stick to Football: “They could get something, awkward aren’t they? 1-1. Yeah, I don’t know why I’ve done that, but Sunderland are tough there.”

Granit Xhaka has been superb for Sunderland and will be eager to upset his former club when they arrive at his new home in the Premier League.

Ahead of the match, Xhaka admitted he cannot wait to face Arsenal, in what should be a fascinating battle at the Stadium of Light.

Arsenal are without Viktor Gyokeres for the clash, with the Swede set to be sidelined with an injury until after the international break.

The North London club are already without Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, and Noni Madueke.

Arsenal are aiming to create English top-flight history against Sunderland

On the weekend, Arsenal will be looking to create history in English football by becoming the first top-flight team to win nine consecutive matches without conceding in all competitions.

The partnership of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes has become formidable at the Emirates and is helping drive the team to create a small piece of history.

The Gunners have kept clean sheets in each of their previous eight matches, and against Sunderland, they could be the first side ever to go nine games without conceding.

Liverpool in 1920 and Preston in 1889 are the only other two teams to have matched the Gunners’ feat, showing just how impressive they have become under Arteta.
