AFL fans are showering Patrick Dangerfield with praise after the Geelong captain delivered a stunning runner-up speech just minutes after a shattering loss in the grand final. The Brisbane Lions won back-to-back flags with a stunning surge in the final quarter, after the score was locked at 36-36 at half-time.The Lions kicked 13 goals to seven in the second half and took their lead past 50 at one point. The scoreline ended up (122) to 11.9 (75) as Brisbane won their fifth flag of the millennium (2001, 2002, 2003, 2024 and 2025) - making them the first team to achieve the feat.Geelong players were distraught as their premiership dreams were crushed, but their skipper showed some incredible leadership in his runner-up speech. Just minutes after having his heart broken, Dangerfield produced a classy speech that had the AFL world talking."Congrats to Brisbane ... you guys were super today, thoroughly deserving winners," Danger said. "To our guys, be proud, hold your heads up high. We don't celebrate those that come second all that well in this country, but there's plenty to be proud of today. To Brisbane, you were far too good. Enjoy your celebrations."One person wrote on social media: "Paddy Dangerfield is the consummate professional. He is everything the AFL wants and needs. Just so well spoken in defeat and on this big stage."Another wrote: "Class act Dangerfield. Well played."
