How The English Media Rated Kieran Tierney Upon Arsenal Return

All indications point towards an emotional Kieran Tierney-Celtic reunion next summer.

Reports last night stated that the left-back could be on his way back to Glasgow. Arsenal don’t look like they’ll extend his one-year contract, meaning he’ll be a free agent come the end of the season.

Currently earning £120,000, the 27-year-old is willing to take a significant wage cut to return home.

He made a rare appearance for Arsenal last night, starting for the Gunners for the first time in 19 months.

They faced Crystal Palace in the quarter-finals of the League Cup and came away 3-2 victors. Tierney started and played until the 70th minute. Here’s how the English media rated him.

The Standard gave the returning left-back a respectable 7/10, outlining his continual overlapping threat.

Elsewhere, Football London similarly rated Tierney with a 7/10. They stated he should have gotten an assist for a chance in which he set up Raheem Sterling. It was a good way to bow out if it was his last Arsenal appearance, they also penned.

Finally, the Daily Express rated Tierney 6/10. They said he was ‘steady’ before cramp caused him to come off.

Injury has plagued the defender throughout his career to date, and while that will be a concern for some Celtic fans should he return, if he can be kept fit, he is one of the best players in Scottish football.
