Geelong Cats is excited to announce emerging defender Connor O’Sullivan has signed a two-year contract extension, committing his future to the Cats until at least the end of 2028.

Already contracted until the end of 2026, O’Sullivan was drafted with pick 11 in the 2023 AFL Draft and has quickly caught the eye of Cats members and fans with his athleticism, intercept marking ability and composure for a young player.

Making his debut in the Hoops in Round 5, 2024 against North Melbourne, O’Sullivan has established himself at the top level in 2025 playing all but one game so far in 2025.

Becoming a consistent member in the Cats’ defence in 2025, O’Sullivan is often tasked with shutting down one of the oppositions key forwards while also providing an option to play smaller and provide rebound and drive out of defensive 50.

O’Sullivan was rewarded for his early season form, earning a Telstra Rising Star nomination in Round 2 for his 15 disposal, seven mark and nine intercept possession effort against St Kilda at Marvel Stadium.

Geelong’s Executive General Manager - Football, Andrew Mackie said it was great to have O’Sullivan recommit now, before coming out of contract at the end of 2026.

“Connor is a promising young player who’s already shown he belongs at the AFL level,” Mackie said.

“He’s a great character, a hard worker and we are excited to see him continue to develop alongside the core group of young players that have signed on long term.”

O’Sullivan becomes the latest Cats to recommit in 2025, joining fellow teammates Ollie Dempsey, Gryan Miers, Tom Atkins, Mark Blicavs, Toby Conway, Jeremey Cameron, Shannon Neale, Ollie Henry, Mitch Edwards, Sam de Koning and Brad Close to sign on.
