Aston Villa's director of football operations, Damian Vidagany, has echoed Monchi's sentiments following the decision to uphold Jhon Duran's Boxing Day red card at Newcastle United. He also cheekily reminded a Magpies fan that they can watch Villa in the Champions League in the New Year.

Despite a 3-0 defeat on Tyneside, with goals from Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak and Joelinton, Villa have been making waves by breaking into the Champions League places, traditionally dominated by the 'Big Six'. They're set to continue their journey in the competition after securing 13 points from a possible 18.

Upcoming clashes with Monaco and Celtic are on the horizon. However, Villa will have to manage without Duran for the time being due to his suspension.

Vidagany has questioned the decision not to overturn the red card but urged Villa to push past this setback. Vidagany, not mincing his words, expressed his frustrations online, "3 matches for Jhon Duran," he posted. "You know what? The most damaged here is not Villa - is the credibility of the ones that made the decisions...we are going to keep fighting, nothing will destroy us and we will overcome all this unfair decisions. And we will behave like gentlemen.", reports Birmingham Live.

A Newcastle supporter's reply elicited a cheeky response from Vidagany: "Hopefully the fight is stronger than that whimper we witnessed yesterday, Damian."

To which, Vidagany came back with, "Hopefully. We will see every weekend if we can. Also in the midweek. I think easier for you to follow us Tuesday and Wednesday. Not really busy days for you. By the way, you have a great team and played better. Deserved the win. But it was not a red card."
