Melbourne: India’s batting effort was halted early on day four of the fourth Test against Australia, with the visitors dismissed for 369. Centurion Nitish Kumar Reddy was the last wicket to fall at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, caught on 114 after a valiant innings that had begun the previous day.

Reddy’s knock of 114, his maiden Test century, was the highlight of India’s innings. He and Washington Sundar (50) put up a defiant 127-run partnership for the eighth wicket, offering India a glimmer of hope. Reddy's innings of 189 balls included 11 fours and a six, the highest Test score ever by a player batting at number eight or lower in Melbourne.

Australia holds first-innings lead of 105 runs

Australia retained a first-innings lead of 105 runs after Reddy’s dismissal in the deep. Mohammed Siraj was unbeaten on four when India were bowled out for 369. Australia’s Nathan Lyon was the standout bowler, claiming 3-96, while Pat Cummins and Scott Boland also contributed with three wickets apiece.

Dry weather expected over the next two days

Play resumed half an hour early after rain caused a delay on Saturday. The forecast indicates dry weather over the remaining two days of the match, as Australia aim to claim the series, which is currently tied 1-1. The final Test will be played in Sydney.
