Premier League club's contract talks with £60m star have stalled, Chelsea are interested

Chelsea will continue to monitor one Premier League player as contract talks with his club reportedly stall.

Chelsea did a lot of business in the last transfer window, making more than 10 signings. They really improved their attack by bringing in the likes of Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto.

However, what the Blues did not do was bring in a top centre-forward after failing to land Victor Osimhen.

Chelsea could return for Osimhen at some point, but Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak is another striker who appears to be on their radar.

Newcastle yet to tie Alexander Isak down to new contract

During the summer, it was claimed that Chelsea wanted to sign Isak, but no deal was agreed in the end.

According to TBR, the Blues are still circling the 25-year-old, but Newcastle want him to put pen to paper on a new contract.

They seem to have hit a bit of a snag, though, with the same outlet reporting that talks over a fresh deal have stalled.

The Magpies signed Isak from Real Sociedad for £60m, but having become such a key player for them and proven himself in the Premier League, the likelihood is that they would want more money than that if they do decide to sell him to Chelsea or another club.

Chelsea should continue monitoring Alexander Isak’s situation

It is definitely worth Chelsea not taking their eye off Isak. Again, the Newcastle star has shown that he can excel in the top flight of English football.

Last season, for example, Isak scored 21 goals in 30 appearances. If the Blues do want to sign a new striker in 2025, then Isak is someone who should be on their shortlist.

Of course, if Isak goes on to sign that new contract that Newcastle are trying to get him to ink, then it is probably game over. But until then, Chelsea should continue watching and get ready to strike.
