Former Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli has a deep connection with his jersey number 18.

According to Indian media reports, Kohli has worn the number 18 since he started playing for India’s Under-19 cricket team, and it remains the same for his ODI, T20, and Test jerseys.

The report mentions that Kohli did not initially choose the number 18 for his jersey, but over time, the number gained significant importance in his life.

One reason for this is that he believes wearing the number 18 jersey marked the beginning of his success in life.

The number 18 holds a special emotional significance for Kohli, as it also marks the tragic loss of his father, Prem Kohli, who passed away from a heart attack on December 18, 2006.

At the time of his father’s death, Kohli was playing a match againstagainst Karnataka at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, formerly known as Feroz Shah Kotla.

Despite the grief of losing his father, Kohli continued to play the next day. The report further reveals that Kohli has incorporated the number 18 in various aspects of his life, including his restaurant and other business ventures.

He also had special number plates made for his cars with the number 18.

An interesting fact is that Virat Kohli made his international cricket debut on August 18, 2008.
