Boris Becker sends message to Novak Djokovic after his shock defeat to Valentin Vacherot

Novak Djokovic was stunned in the semifinals of the Shanghai Masters after being beaten by Valentin Vacherot.

Djokovic was beaten in straight sets by Vacherot, who has continued his dream run from qualifying at the Shanghai Masters.

Despite being defeated by the world number 204, Djokovic has actually lost to a player ranked lower than Vacherot this year.

Now, after suffering this shock defeat, Djokovic’s former coach, Boris Becker, has sent him a message on social media.

After the conclusion of their semifinal at the Shanghai Masters, Djokovic and Vacherot exchanged words at the net.

Despite the disappointment of his defeat, Djokovic was praised for what he said about Vacherot in his post-match press conference.

This continued later on in the day, when Djokovic sent a message to Vacherot on social media, and Becker has reacted to this.

Becker coached Djokovic between 2013 and 2016, helping him win six Grand Slam titles, and he has praised his former player for his generosity after losing.

Becker responded to Djokovic’s post on X (formerly known as Twitter) by saying, “You’re just a class act!”

What is next for Novak Djokovic after his shock defeat in Shanghai?

After beating Djokovic, Vacherot will now progress to the biggest match of his career in the Shanghai Masters final against his cousin Arthur Rinderknech.

There are now question marks over what Djokovic will do for the remainder of the 2025 season, with the 38-year-old openly admitting that he does not make long-term plans anymore.

Djokovic has committed to the ATP 250 event in Athens, but was unsure if he would be playing at the ATP Finals or the Paris Masters.

However, before then Djokovic is scheduled to compete at the Six Kings Slam exhibition event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Djokovic will receive $1.5million just to appear at the event, where Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Taylor Fritz, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas will all compete.
