The hopes of U.S. men's tennis are pinned largely on the back of Taylor Fritz.Fritz is currently ranked the 5th top-ranked men's tennis player in the world by the ATP tour with more than $26 million in career prize money. However, there are four players standing in his way of a higher rank and Grand Slam victories: Carlos Alcaraz of Spain, Jannik Sinner of Italy, Alexander Zverev of Germany, and Novak Djokovic of Serbia, in that order.Fritz faces Sebastian Korda in Tokyo on September 27.COMPLEX SHOP: Shop the brands you love, anytime and anywhere. However, Alcaraz has defeated him three other times, including at Wimbledon in 2025.Now, a top tennis coach and two commentators are explaining the weaknesses in Fritz's game that they believe are preventing the American from defeating those tennis legends more consistently and, especially, at Grand Slam events.Simon Rea listed what he sees as Fritz's weaknesses to Australian Open TV. He is the former coach for Nick Kyrgios.“He’s got that ability to be safe and be consistent. He called it pushing, and he can do that well, but up against the very best," Rea said. "It’s not been a recipe that’s been enough to challenge them. So, the head-to-heads against Alcaraz, one and three, against Sinner, one and four, including losing the last three. And against Djokovic, he (Fritz) is 0-11.”Rea critiqued Fritz's second serve in particular.“I think he’s caught a little bit between on his second serve," he explained. "So all of those players are able to impact on his second serve. I think Taylor would say if he were in the room with us, his athleticism and physicality and movement is not a strength of his game like it is with those other three.”Concluded Rea, “Even if 165 kmph on second serve, if they know where it’s coming, they will impact you. And that is where good players go to die. If they have read on your serve, and you become predictable, they will hurt you and they will hurt you every time. And that I think is the price that Taylor Fritz is paying.”Commentator Nick Lester also explained why Fritz often falls short against Alcaraz and Sinner, according to Tennis Head. Sinner leads the head-to-head with Fritz 4-1.“He’s just a fraction slower in terms of getting out of the corners. That ability to stop and start. He’s a good athlete, he’s a lot better than he was," Lester said on the air.“Can I also say, they are a fraction quicker because he’s a good athlete, they are phenomenal athletes,” commentator Barry Cowan concurred, according to Tennis Head.Related News,,Related NewsCam’ron Wildly Compares Zion Williamson’s Weight Loss to a Crackhead Getting CleanFormer Boxing Champ Laila Ali Signs With Paradigm to Level Up in TV and LifestyleCOMPLEX SHOP: Shop the brands you love, anytime and anywhere.
