In this 50-over world cup final for the history books, India managed to get 298 runs over 7 wickets, which now the Proteas will need to chase 299-runs for victory. Among the stand-out batters for India were Shafali Verma, who scored 87 runs in 78 balls. Deepti Sharma followed her with 58 runs in 58 balls while Smriti Mandhana managed 45 runs in 58 balls.

Mandhana and Verma were both caught out after pulling a 104 collective run partnership. Mandhana was caught out by Sinalo Jafta from Chloe Tryon's bowling, while Verma was caught out by Sune Luus from Ayabonga Khaka's bowling.

It is now the Proteas' turn to bat, and soon after, history will be made. It is the first time the Proteas women play a world cup final in the 50-over format, while India has seen 3 finals and is yet to take a single title.

The Proteas face a tough chase of 219 runs from 34.4 overs to claim their first ICC Women’s World Cup title. With the target mounting, every run will count as the Proteas battle against a strong India's bowling attack.
